Keyword Techniques For Search Engine Optimization

SEO or (Search Engine Optimization) is a sub niche of search engine marketing.
Unfortunately, with SEO, there are no shortcuts, You will need to carry out some hard work, especially in relation to the actual content of your site.

If you are looking to improve the search engine position of your site, you should consider this very early on when looking at using SEO.

These are some key points to follow:

Good Content

This is probably the single most important point you should remember when doing SEO, especially if you want your site to be found on the web. Although your site may be technically perfect so that the search engine robots find it, you will find that it will not help if the actual content of your site is not good. Also make sure everything is factually correct as well as grammatically sound.

Make Sure Your Page Titles are Descriptive

If you make your page titles as simple, descriptive and relevant as possible, it will make it easier for the search engines to know what each page of your site is about. This will then allow people to scan through the search results they get, and are able to quickly determine if your site contains what they are actually looking for. Also, it should be remembered that the page title is also what is used in order to link to your site from the results provided by the search engines.

Keywords

It is important that you make sure the selected words you use meet your marketing criteria. So do not pick words which are too general. Using words that are more specific will result in a higher ranking for your site. Use keywords in your page titles, meta tags, and also throughout the page content. That makes it easier for search engines to spider your page.

When I am going to optimize a site I always check out the competition by doing a search on relevant keywords to get a better idea of what’s already working out there.

Backlinks and Your Website

A backlink is a link which directs others towards your site. So, the number of backlinks that your site has is an indication of how popular or important it is according to your peers (other site owners). These are especially important for SEO, as search engines such as Google will give more credit to those sites with a good number of quality backlinks. So they will then consider these sites more relevant than others in the results pages of a search query.

The best way to generate good backlinking is through:

o Recipricol linking to other sites with the same content

o Site submissions to directories that allow free submissions and some paid directories

o Writing and submission of articles to online article sites

o Blogging and updating your blog regularly

As you will soon see, search engines are one of the primary ways in which internet users will find a particular website. So that is why a site with good search engine listings is likely to see a dramatic increase in the traffic that it receives.

How To Get On Googles First Page With Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization is actually much harder than it looks at the surface. The reason therefore is that Google has made it very difficult to figure out whom they will put at the number one spot next time. There are however some light in the tunnel.

If you put enough effort in it, SEO or Search Engine Optimization can be mastered like anything else. A good search engine marketing consultant with experience shouldn’t have too much of a problem of getting a website to the top. There are however more to it than just changing Meta Tags and building links.

When you want to optimize your company website, you have to make sure that you find the right person to assist you. It can cost your business a lot of money to optimize your website and therefore you have to make sure that you use the right people.

Having that said, it can also bring your business some valuable customers and advertising for many years. Some of my sites have been in the number one spot on several search engines including Google for many years.

Being on the first on second page on Google can have a big influence on the amount of traffic that you receive. The first page brings about 90 percent of all the keywords business in. If you have the number one spot on a specific keyword you can count on 40% of the traffic. The important point about this is that you should use your resources very careful to ensure you rank in the right places.

Not just any keyword will do. Doing a Keyword research is of the utmost importance to the traffic that the specific website will bring in. Spending money on keywords with low traffic value and very high competition is not a good choice. The most probable keywords that your customers would use can be a good starting point for your research. Then do a keyword research to see which keywords will benefit your site the most.

Not only is Search engine optimization essential to your site, but it is also important that you see to it that it is done properly. To do SEO properly there are many on-page as well as off-page factors to consider. complete your internet marketing plan with a well written plan for optimization.Plan your budget to give enough attention to your ranking and your results will be lasting for a long time.

Search Engine Optimization To Increase Traffic

Search engines can deliver the most ammount of traffic to your website, because of that it is very important to take your time to analyse and optimise your websites ranking in search engines, but there are other ways to get more traffic to your website (internet marketing) which I will discuss in later articles.
Meta Tags

Meta tags are very important in search engine optimisation, without important meta tags like keywords and description, there is a big chance you won even be listed on the first two pages.

Meta tags should be within the head tags of your document and have the following syntax (without the first space):

Keywords

Keywords are the most important in whole seo-world, without them, say goodbye to a successfull ranking in search engines. Choosing and optimisating keywords is not easy as most people think. You have to now your target audience and what keywords will be searched for, it is very important that your content contains your main keywords atleast five to even ten times. Try asking serveral visitors if they found your site via a search engine, if so, ask them what keyword they searched for. They keyword that is the most popular for your website should get the most optimisation.

When your done choosing your keywords and when you know wich of them are the most important, we can move on the more a little bit more technical work. The most important keywords (and the one that are the most in your content) should be placed in the beginning of your keyword-list. Then the less important keywords follow (all seperated by commas). Also remember, also include other spellings, synonyms and keywords with and without spaces between words than can be written like both. You should atleast have about 15-20 unique keywords.

Description

The description of your website is also very important but I’m not going to cover it in depth. A good description should contain a minimum of 30-35 words, about 5 of them (minimum) should be keywords. Also make sure your description reflects your content and tells exactly what your website is about. The same tips as for keywords, try using alot of synonyms and lists of keywords.

Subject

The subject is usually one sentence wich represents your sites whole content. Again, try using keywords in it. This isnt used very much be can make improvement for your ranking.

Copyright

States your company name and year(s) of foundation. Not very important for search engine optisation.

Author

The page creator. Not very important for search engine optimisation.

Language

The language of the webpage, used when people search local (country/language-based) with a search engine, only webpages that match the searched language will be shown.

Title Tag

The most made mistake is putting only your company name in your title, that way, your ranking will only be optimised for your company name. Nobody will search your company name in a search engine, if they now it, they would directly go to your URL. To get the best ranking you should have page titles depending on your content, like an article name, etc followed by your company/website name and atleast three keywords.

URLs

Having search engine friendly URLs is very important because a lot of search engine just dont index dynamic URLs like [http://www.jochenvandevelde.com/view.php?what=article&id=5&sort=asc&by=name]. If you want to learn how to make search engine friendly URL, please visit my tutorial about it. Remember, when making search engine friendly URLs, don’t base your URLs on an id like [http://www.jochenvandevelde.com/tutorial/5], but use their full name like [http://www.jochenvandevelde.com/tutorials/search-engine-friendly-urls]. Then, when people search for search engine friendly URLs, your site will be ranked higher because the keywords are in your URL.

Search Engine Optimization To Get Top 10 In Google

Search engine optimization is a process of improving a website to get it crawled and listed properly in search engines. This process of optimizing a website is commonly termed as SEO.

When a user types in a term to search, they display a number of results. All these results match the search term and these terms are known as keywords. SEO is used to research and identify these keywords for a specific website. These keywords are then used in descriptive sentences within the website so that when a search engine crawler, crawls the website, it takes notice of these keywords and list the website in search results for that very keyword.

History of SEO

In mid 90s, when search engines were emerging and internet users had started to use them for collecting information, some webmasters realized the power of a search engine. These webmasters knew that in future, search engines will be the most widely used internet applications and they started to study the algorithms these applications were adopting.

Search engines at that time were mostly relying over the information provided to them by a webmaster. The process involved was; a webmaster had to submit his website to a search engine. In addition to the URL of the website, he had to provide the Meta information that included title, description and keywords, of the website. It would then crawl the website and was considered to give a special consideration to the website for the keywords that were submitted.

The search engines had to suffer from ranking manipulation and abuse as they were mostly relying on the information provided by the webmaster. A search engine would be considered a good one only if its user will get the required information from the search term he entered. In this case, many of the webmasters tried to misuse the search engines to generate traffic to their websites. Misuse and abuse was carried out by providing misleading keywords during the website submission. These and other such techniques were termed as Black Hat SEO.

SEO in Current Times

Search engines have developed to a level where not everyone can have a clear understanding of how they work and how and why a website is ranked higher than others for a specific keyword. In current times, these most widely used internet applications have improved very much. Complex mathematical algorithms are used to rank websites in search results.

The leading search engines of the world do not reveal how exactly they rank websites but some known factors are the descriptive Meta tags within the HTML of a web page and its relevancy to the content of that page. A combination of number of links pointing to a website and their quality is also an important factor.
SEO in current times can be defined as a combination of a good and powerful optimization of a website, also termed as on-page optimization, and quality of content relevant links pointing to that website, also termed as off-page optimization.

SEO has become an integral part of every website these days. Most of the webmasters have an idea about it and they usually carry it out by themselves. This effort of in house SEO is mostly for small websites. For relatively large and quality traffic oriented websites, professional SEO services are offered from a number of companies.

SEO is the most important part of an internet marketing campaign. It drives quality and targeted internet traffic to a website. In addition to SEO, webmasters also require advertising campaigns to drive traffic to their website. While calculating the ROI of a website, internet marketing, that combines both, SEO and advertising, turns out to be the most persuading technique and it should be implemented with properly setting up an analytical application to measure the true success of the website.

Secrets Of Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine optimization is very important if you are looking to expand your internet exposure however, it seems that many people are victim to bad SEO (search Engine Optimization) practices. The major criticism is that a lot of people are paying completely too much for little or no results. In addition, a lot of them fall prey to bad SEO techniques. If you plan to hire an SEO pro in the future, I recommend you to follow the steps below before hiring any SEO firm or individual:

A) Find out how well-known and experienced an SEO firm is before you talk.

Do they have a considerable number of clients list?
Are they available?

B) Examine their portfolio.

What kind of results have they accomplished?
Contact a few of their clients. Were they satisfied with the SEO work that was done?

C) Consider and confirm their methods?

How will they optimize your site in the major search engines to reach your keywords?
Do they use organic methods? Some individuals or companies use doorway pages, hide text in the background, utilize re-directs and other blacklisted methods. Stay away from these because search engines consider these techniques as spam.

D) Get a least three proposals from other SEO companies.

Look at each one carefully. Are there similarities? Proposals will assist you know which companies are honest and which are trying to sell you something that doesn’t work.
What is the cost? The cheapest isn’t always the best; however, the highest price may not be attached to a complete and feasible course of action. Try to find an individual or a company that will give you what you want within your SEO financial plan.

E) Get everything in writing.

Look over the document carefully. Be sure it covers everything you have discussed, including methods of achieving your desired results. Have the copies signed by both parties. If the job is a large one you may want to consult a lawyer.

F) Clearly state the terms of payment.

While most SEO companies will not do any work for free or agree to a results based pay scale, many knowledgeable SEO professionals will not shy away from a base plus performance incentive package. I am not a firm believer in prepaid contracts. The majority of SEO professionals will abide by the 50% up front, 50% upon completion standard. Make sure all financial terms are as clearly defined in your contract as the actual scope of work. This will protect all parties involved in the event that expectations are not met.

All in all, try to do your best to train yourself on SEO. Have a basic understanding of SEO terminology and SEO methodology. Anyone offering SEO services should not have a problem explaining how they intend to get you results.
